The closing date for applications was January 31st 2025.
Applications should be completed and submitted in hard-copy only. Electronic submissions will not be accepted.
IMPORTANT:
In line with Department of Education Circular 39/2025, you should notify the NCSE that you are making an application for admission to a special school. The NCSE will discuss with families the range of options that are available to meet the needs of their child or young persons identified in available reports. This notification together with the submission of the child or young person’s relevant reports should occur as early as is possible.
The timeline by which parents are to notify the NCSE that a child requires a special class or special school place for the 2026/2027 school year is 1 October 2025.
To be eligible to apply for a place applicants must submit a letter from the NCSE confirming that the child is known to them and that the child has the required diagnosis and recommendation for a special school. We cannot process applications without this letter.
